Sid Thomas S*-ing to Power

S*-ing to Power **** S is for Sign, * is for Use. S*, as in S*-ing, is for SLINGING THE SHLONG AGAINST PHILOSOPHICAL AND OTHER ABUSE (Let S* be verse, picture, symbology, rant, whatever talks eternal, American, now) The world is ready and waiting for what we can do here. As John Calvin put it, differently, "It's up to you."

PSYCHOSEMIOTIOCS

--Where Psyche and Symbol Interact

Psychosemiotics is a new science of relations existing at the intersection of Psychology and Sign-Use, in the unique space where language communicates (TokenSpace). The use of these three terms explains it:

1. COMMUNICATION

Content of consciousness transmitted by use of signs.

Actual, as opposed to hypothetical, communication, essentially involves actual use of signs, reading, hearing, speaking, etc.; which is to say, a complex psychic (anatomical and mental) process. The various components of this process, analyzed and diagrammed, can be used to formalize its structure and dynamics. This is the guiding conception of psychosemiotics.

2. SIGN-USE

Text and Token see prev. entry

3. TOKENSPACE

The space posited by sign relations in the process of communicating

-Through text: the relations between objects referred to in public communication. Thus, the space surrounding the body; the space divided by Cartesian coordinates into point-sets for shapes of trajectories of three dimensional objects (projectiles) of given mass (M), velocity (V), direction (D) and constant conditions C (inertia/acceleration, attraction/repulsion laws)

-Through token: the relations between the bearers or vehicles of text; these belong to each person's individual awareness integrated into expressive unity as "I", "me", "my", "our" (for collective self-mirror) for continuity of experience by memory.

The second space is named after the tokens of communication in consideration of modern understanding of the causes of perception. This understanding situates perception of the word "blue" in the same plane of relations as the color blue, both rising to the level of awareness linked by the word's text referring to the sensation. Thus in TokenSpace, "blue" refers to blue; and that is shown by occurrence of the same letters b-l-u-e inside and outside quotation marks (conventionally used for framing the token in written text).
