Why isn’t it ever said?
Faith? Yip-pur! Got faith-based initiatives coming out the government’s wazoo. .
Hope? --- Hey, man. Every man and his dog’s got hope. Wher’dja be without hope? From guv’munt guys, to left-libbers wise – it’s what there is without dope.
But the “L” word?
Nope.
Why is that?
“Too personal,” some will say.
And they’re right. But Hey! What about faith? What’s that, chopped liver?
(Never treat with impunity
that chopped liver community!)
“Unnecessary,” the deacons grunt ..
You say “faith,”; you say “hope”
“With blessings from above,”
just leave out the rest

My take is this.
The token has been smeared by the text.
Tarnished by carnality
And Reagan’s abnormality
What once meant liberty to european masses
Was brought down
To the level
of brown paper bag sassies
