Momma's Man
(Man/Boy reversal; narrative of male maturity, from mother-dominance to full-blown passive aggressive).
The reviews and comments systematically avoid mentioning that this is a particular Jewish narrative set in New York City (even though its visual content is specifically about that).

Here is how the New York Times reviewer handles it. " a touchingly true film, part weepie, part comedy, about the agonies of navigating that slippery slope called adulthood. ...In American movies, growing up tends to be a job for either Aryan Youth types or the oddballs and outsiders ...a staple of both sitcoms and the Sundance Film Festival. ."

"Aryan", of course, is code for Nazi-leaning white males; a way of referring to Jews as persecuted holocaust victims. The hyper-radioactive J- word itself is not printed. Not for us to consciously use 'Jewish' to think of it. But there sure are a lot of "Jacobs' in the piece, to go with the films content.

The deep unconscious wish getting acted out by the Jacob's family is to shape-shift from Old Adam soul manhood (dominance of thought by snake brain content) to New Adam soul manhood (see Hebrews Chap. 11:1-3; Chap.8 - "A High Priest Of the Order of Mekchizedek"). It is a Biblical/psychohistorical denoument, on the order of Norman Mailers "Soldiers of the Night" (--Jew using the 'Jesus trip' idea to 'Imanentize the Eschaton" -- he ran for NYC mayor) to redeem the post 60's world. Sons graduating to manhood by re-enobling their parents Way -- in this instance, Jewish boys growing up in New York City, now saddled by Israel, Bush-McCain dependency, Schneman and massacre of Georgians -- fat, loathsome, regressed to playing with toys in the attic and not looking at mothers and wives or women in general, with heroes with names lije "a-Rod", "Jeter", "Lieberman", Bloomberg, Giuliani, Perle and "neocon" -- pre-mammalian shape shifting mench munchers.

Some, like Andy Chertow, an undergraduate at Harpur College when Ken Jacobs was there -- and Abbey Hoffman -- took moral/patriotic opposition to pro-War (false) Americanism to the limits, alongside 'Daddy's man' males like me. Yes, they were Jews. But taking what Jewishness stands for beyond the Freudian/parent hang-up ever was, for men who make the mommie issue irrelevant. The ones who didn't are left with G.W.
